The Minister of Science and Innovation, Cristina Garmendia, has awarded the everis foundation Entrepreneur and Essay Awards, for "Aquarturn" in the category of entrepreneurs, and in the essay category "A new business framework" by José Daniel Martínez Mondéjar. The second prize has been for "The Rebellion of the brands”, an essay coordinated by Fernando Olivares Delgado and made by an interdisciplinary team at the University of Alicante.
The awards ceremony has coincided with the tenth anniversary of everis foundation, an entity that, every year, has maintained its vocation oriented to entrepreneurs and with the objective of promoting innovation and research. Cristina Garmendia has encouraged the foundation to "keep innovating and spreading important concepts such as research since now more than ever, our country has to support those who have the courage and the talent to innovate".
everis foundation, led by Eduardo Serra, gives special importance to these awards because they contribute to the development of society and the promotion of entrepreneurship. The prizes in this latest edition, with more than 150 projects, have been for three candidates from Valencian Community.
Over 200 academics, people from business and politics have attended the Awards. It is also to be highlighted the attendance of Juan Pérez Mercader, Senior Research Fellow at Harvard University, who gave a conference about the origin of life and the universe.
The scientist, who is now involved in the last mission to Mars seeking for life, thanked the support he received from everis foundation when he arrived Harvard. He also emphasized the importance of "innovation, talent and entrepreneurship."
Entrepreneurs Award
"Aquareturn", an original device that is able to generate savings of a large volume of water, has been the winner in the Entrepreneur Awards, worth 60,000 euros. The project is the result of investigations made by the Industrial Engineer Alfonso Cuervo, avoiding the waste of resources coordinating the desired temperature with the water running. It can be used in several ways and it can be installed in homes, businesses or industries using hot water, either boiler or thermos. It does not need repairs, new pipes, hoses, or deposits to stock the water.
Essay Award
The essay "A new business framework" by José Daniel Martinez Mondéjar, has won the Essay Award, worth 24,000 euros. It analyzes the need of an environment with economical freedom to enhance business production.
This project is the result of a 20 years old man who is currently studying a degree in law at the University of Valencia. He defends that restrictions for some people and privileges for some others are an obstacle to grow.
“The rebellion of brands” has been awarded the second prize, worth 6,000 euros. A study about the strong impact House brands have had on the market and the consequences for brands.
