everis and the Business Confederation of Valencia (CEV), have presented today the report, "The TIC outsourcing and processes as a tool for innovation and competitiveness in companies of Valencia”. The presentation has been done by Salvador Solaz, partner in charge of the project, and it has been introduced by the President of the CEV, Jose Vicente Gonzalez.
The report states that one or some parts of the companies contract outsourcing services and it is a regular practice in Valencia. Thus, the study concludes that 50% of companies contract outsourcing services, a market that earns €300 million in the region. The study aims to find out if these companies are evolving into a more advanced concept of outsourcing, going beyond subcontracting and trying to create partnerships between companies and suppliers to build competitive advantage.
The study has analyzed more than 400 businesses in the community and 34 companies have participated actively. It shows both the companies with outsourcing processes and those without them, in order to uncover the motivations and difficulties they face.
The report also says that almost half of companies in Valencia consider reducing operational costs and flexibility the main advantages when outsourcing. Other reasons would be valued equally at a second level, such as increased efficiency, access to profiles and specialized technology and greater capacity and faster response to situations of change.
Regarding the problems leading to the procurement of outsourcing services, companies have pointed out the possible loss of control of those contracted services.
Regarding the relationship of the current crisis with the need of this outsourcing model, the response has been divided into equal parts. However, it is relevant to say that firms with more than 250 employees see the need to reduce costs, converting them into variables and increased efficiency as reasons for hiring such services.
