LATAM Airlines Brazil has become the first South American-based airline to launch an application accessed through Amazon's Alexa voice service on Amazon Echo devices. The project, which has been developed in collaboration with everis, means that Brazilian Alexa users will be able to check the status of their flight or plan new trips through a destination search engine and participate in a test of curiosities about the world of aviation.

"Technology is very important in aviation, not only for the efficiency and safety of our operations, but also because it makes it possible for us to offer our passengers more comfort and control in their travel experience," said Igor Miranda, sales and marketing director for Aviation LATAM Airlines Brazil. "In a highly connected world, being the only airline launching this function in Brazil is a reflection of the value that LATAM places on its passengers' time and on bringing innovation and comfort to all our interactions," he adds.

Alexa is a cloud-based voice service from Amazon that is present on many branded and third-party devices. Amazon announced the launch of Alexa in Brazil, as well as the availability of two intelligent speaker models, the Echo Show 5 and the Echo Dot.

"We are happy to launch Alexa with so many excellent local services for our customers in Brazil, and to have a company like LATAM Airlines Brazil by the hand" explains José Nilo Martins, Country Manager at Alexa Skills of Amazon Brazil. "As a traveler, I'm excited to know that LATAM Skill will help its customers get flight information and plan their trip more conveniently," he adds.

To access LATAM, Alexa users in Brazil must activate the company's skill in the application. With the app available, users just have to say the phrase "open LATAM" and access to the available resources.

"It is a project that positions LATAM, in terms of innovation, in the customer experience compared to its competitors, which shows that the company is aligned with the development trends of human behavior," argues Pedro Javier Lopez, everis partner responsible for Digital Technology in Brazil. "Alexa is a sophisticated device and companies that want to stand out in their industries need to take advantage of its potential within the Voice First concept in order to develop their IT architectures and customer relationship tools, providing increasingly consistent and satisfying experiences, and consequently expanding their business generation", concludes López.
