everis joins NASA’s Space Apps Challenge for the third year in a row

everis joins for the third year in a row NASA’s Space Apps Challenge, the most relevant hackathon in the World. This year, it will act through its regional hubs, specifically from Alicante, Salamanca, Murcia, Santander, and Valladolid, offices that will support and disseminate the initiative.

From its creation in 2012, the International NASA’S Space Apps Challenge has become the biggest hackathon globally, bringing together thousands of citizens to use NASA’s open code, aiming to create innovative solutions to face current global challenges. Teams form by technologists, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, and artists have collaborated to address answers.

Virtual marathon

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held completely virtual and will be celebrated as a 48-hour maratón on the 3rd and 4th of October. This year's topic ‘Take Action’ will put in the spotlight how an individual citizen can be part of a bigger solution to the most important challenges in Earth and outer space. This year's categories are the following: Observe-INforme-Support-Confront-Connect-Invent your own challenge and the inscription to join are still open.

Thus, the last and more recent reference to this challenge was held in May, when the main topic promoted was to find a challenge to COVID-19. This counted with more than 15,000 participants in 150 countries. Regarding the 2019 edition, more than 29,000 people from 225 cities in the world were able to participate.

Space Apps Challenge winners will in Space Apps’s website, as well as in its social media profiles. As the main incentive, they will receive an invitation to present the winning project to the NADA. And, if traveling is considered safe, winners will be also invited to visit a NASA facility to observe personally a spacecraft launching.
